“Go Goa Gone” sequel comes up with the same starcast except the undead creatures!
Saif Ali Khan-starrer ‘Go Goa Gone’ was touted as the first Indian zombie-comedy and its director duo Raj Nidimoruand Krishna DK said the second part might not feature the undead creatures. Also starring Kunal Khemu and Vir Das, the 2013 film saw a group of people being attacked by zombies on a deserted Goa island.
The director duo has been working on the sequel for a couple of years now, and they say they aren’t entirely sure if they want to bring back zombies this time around too.
“We are debating (on that part), maybe not. The humor is in discovery. Earlier they (characters) were trying to figure out what is a zombie. Now it might become too dramatic. We are just toying with the idea.
The idea of the film was not about zombies but discovering something alien,” Krishna said. The directors say they have a first draft of the sequel ready. The follow-up will retain the same cast.

The makers of the film decided to release VIP 2 as Lalkar in Hindi because of the huge fan following of both the actors in North India. “It was a strategic move to make sure the film reaches across all states. As Kajol and Dhanush coming together in a movie for the first time, the title has to connect with the masses. Both the actors have a huge fan base in the North, so we thought of leveraging it thereby keeping a more relatable and easy name for the audience,” Soundarya told in an interview.
The film was earlier scheduled to release on July 28, Dhanush’s birthday. However, last week, the film’s release date has been postponed due to ‘inevitable reasons’ as tweeted by Soundarya.
VIP 2 is a sequel to Velraj-directed 2014 film Velaiilla Pattadhari. Amala Paul, Vivek, Samuthirakani and Saranya Ponvannan will also reprise their roles in the second part.
